We have committed to becoming Net Zero by 2026
The very nature of our business in the manufacturing of thin film coatings means we consume a high level of electricity. In response to industry incentives to reduce the carbon footprint, Artemis has enlisted the support of energy consultants BCA Associates to support our commitment to becoming net zero by 2026.
Being a small-medium sized enterprise, it is our belief that in sharing our journey we will pave the way for like-minded companies to challenge climate change to build a sustainable future for the next generation.
Our sustainability journey so far:
· Implementation of a voltage optimisation system, that has reduced our annual electricity used by 11%.
· Modifications to existing equipment to reduce energy usage with a view to extend to other equipment within the factory.
· Installation of a solar array mounted to the factory roof which will generate 15% of our current usage.
The fiscal benefit per annum is circa £72,000.
The Carbon Trust confirm that “from implementing these three key recommendations Artemis will be one of the best performing companies in their sector with respect to energy management and efficiency”.
Artemis has also partnered with social enterprise ‘Till the Coast is Clear’ whose mission is to inspire positive change and promote sustainable and regenerative practices. Artemis’ employees will support various beach cleaning activities whilst learning about the impact waste has on the environment.
Our Voltage Optimiser has reduced our annual electricity consumption by 11%.
